The Berlin Euskal Etxea held the debut in the German capital of the film Hurrengo geltokia,(Next Stop) a documentary that gathers the historic memory of the Franco regime and the repression in Legorreta, a small town in Gipuzkoa through interviews with residents there. The documentary, directed by Iban Zunzunegi, and script by Ion Diaz and Oroitz Jauregi, was attended by the director as well as some of the interviewees from Legorreta. This is the chronicle of the event published yesterday by Cristina Martinez Sacristan in Deia.

The Euskal Etxea in Tres Arroyos took a break from its regular activities to celebrate its 16th birthday. The dinner was very well attended and gathered a hundred people. Now, dancers and members of Hiru Erreka are getting ready for a full November with a workshop by Patxi Perez, the trip to Necochea's Semana Vasca and a cultural event they have been organizin at the end of the months, including a talk by Cesar Arrondo.

The big Basque festival in Argentina is getting closer and closer, and even if the main program of the event is confirmed, everyday more details are begin firmed up with activities that will take place in Necochea November 7-13. The novelties having to do with Euskera are varies. On Saturday at 2pm there will be a “Mintzodromo,” where everyone will be able to practice Basque with Basque speakers from Argentine... or via Skype with Basques in Euskal Herria.

The initiative belongs to young Basque-Argentines, Valentina Miguelena and Eliana Dubarry, who created “Bi Gara” (There are two of us) to design and sell products that reflect their love for the Basque culture but also are very functional. Among the object that they provide are “espadrille bags,” Kalimotxo glasses, as well as thermoses, all with a Basque designs. The products from “Bi Gara,” can be purchased in Pergamino, Buenos Aires as well as online.

The program “Artekale,” on the Basque channel Hamaika Telebista recently gave the floor to the Diaspora, inviting three Basques from Argentina: Xabier Zubillaga, Alejo Conti and Facun Aznarez. The three provided an interesting dialogue, in Euskera, about the Basque Diaspora and its cultural work, from which we have translated and highlighted some passages.

Another edition of “Euskal Herria Sona!” begins in Barcelona on November 4. It's the Basque music festival organized by Barcelona's Euskal Etxea. For another year, the poster presents some of the more popular music groups like Zea Mays, Esne Beltza and Doctor Deseo. Besides rock the festival also features other styles from the traditional music of Juan Mari Beltran to hip-hop by La Basu, along with other proposals like dance by Kukai. And many of the concerts are free.

Among the Basques in Argentina, who doesn’t know Rocio Basterra, her work and unmistakable commitment for the Basque language and culture, and the enthusiasm she transmits as a teacher? In the Basque Country many remember her participation as a commentator of the program “Yes we jai,” or in "Mihiluze." This year she was called by Oier Plaza to present his latest documentary. She spoke to the La Nueva newspaper in Bahia Blanca about this and other subjects in an interview that we provide here.

This was the title: “Gernika Day of Inevitable Reflection about the Devastation and Human Atrocity and the Resignification through Art: Pablo Picasso.” The activity was organized by the Askatasunaren Bidea Association at the request of the Cultural Director of the Angel D’Elia High School in San Miguel, in the province of Buenos Aires. After the event that was conducted like a workshop, those present created visual art productions and performances through dialogues.

Big festivities took place last weekend at the Paris Euskal Etxea that celebrated 60 years since its birth. The event began on Saturday night with rock concerts at the Basque club. On Sunday, 150 people gathered for a meal, attracted by the celebration as well as the opportunity to try the food prepared by Chef Bixente Muñoz from the Gran Sol in Hondarribia and his team.
