The “Baskos de la Confluencia,” new Basque club in Neuquen gathered nearly 50 guests at its first lunch

The “Baskos de la Confluencia” Basque Club in Neuquen debuted with a Basque lunch last Sunday, October 30th.

Founded just over two months ago, the new Basque club in Neuquen, Argentine Patagonia held its first community event.  The lunch was very well-attended and gathered nearly 50 guests, including the president of Euskal Txokoa in San Martin de los Andes, Manuel Bustingorry.  Encouraged by the success of their first event, members of “Baskos de la Confluencia,” are prepared to hold more activities

Concerts and Kalejira in Mallorca at the Northern Musicians’ Gathering organized by the Artea Euskal Etxea

The Artea Euskal Etxea in Mallorca celebrated the second edition of its “Trobada de Musicos del Nord,” an event that gathered Basque, Celtic and Galician groups.  The group, Dangiliske attended from Bizkaia. They performed a successful concert on October 17 that was attended by some 150 people and who got them dancing Basque mutxikoak.

Marita Echave presented her book “Country Basque Cooking” in Chivilcoy

Thanks to the sukaldari from Cordoba, the Chivilcoy Euskal Etxea dedicated an entire weekend to gastronomic activities.  The activities included the presentation of the book Cocina Vasca Campesina (Country Basque Cooking) a workshop taught by Marita Echave herself, and two dinners with interesting menus prepared by the club’s Gastronomic Group Amalur.

At the Basque Festival for the Bicentennial of Independence, dantzaris from the Euskal Echea School debuted “Cueca-Fandango”

The Euskal Echea in Llavallol held its annual Basque festival on October 29th

The Euskal Echea School of Llavallol celebrated its annual Basque festival with more than 1,000 children between the ages of 2-18.  The day that began with dance performances and sports exhibitions closed with the exhibit of micro-enterprises, and also had a special moment dedicated to the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence of Argentina.  Directed by Aitor Alava, the dantzaris danced a new dance, “Cueca-Fandango,” a combination of Basque and Argentine.

After the institutional and Business visit to Mexico, today the Basque pavilion will be inaugurated at the Fair in Havana

The Basque Pavilion at the FIHAV in Havana

Basque Institutional and business trips to Mexico and Cuba. Today, kick off for the 34th edition of the International Fair of Havana, FIHAV, with the participation of some 30 Basque companies, the majority from Gipuzkoa. Last week an institutional and business delegation from Gipuzkoa visited Mexico. It was led by Provincial Deputy of Economic Promotion, Ainhoa Aizpuru.  This week the action takes place in Havana, with a program that includes visiting with the president and members of Euskal Etxea of Cuba.

Nagore Goitiandia, from Boise, and Vasco Bilbao, from New York, are the two Americans who are participating in the Basque Country in the first edition of the Leadership Program for Building Basque American Partnerships 2016, "a program (that) intends to create a platform to develop the knowledge about the business, scientific, technological, institutional and cultural reality between Bizkaia and the United States of America/Canada”, said the managing director of Bizkaiatalent, Ivan Jimenez.

Izaskun Kortazar, Basque teacher in Boise, tours Brazil giving talks on Basque culture

For the second year in a row, Basque teacher, Izaskun Kortazar is visiting Brazil where she has spent several days giving talks on Basque culture at Basque club across the country. Kortazar is originally from Sondika, Bizkaia but she has lived in Boise, Idaho for a dozen years.  There, she teaches at BSU.  Kortazar has visited the Eusko Alkartasuna Basque Club in Sao Paulo and over the coming days will give talks in Porto Alegre and Pelotas, before passing to Uruguay (Montevideo and Trinidad).

Five Chefs travel next week from the Basque country to Mexico thanks to “Miniature-Euskadi Gastronomika”

Five Basque chefs, specialized in high cuisine in miniature will take their best in pintxos avant-garde cuisine to Mexico and offer experience dinners and master classes.  Basquetour, through the product club, Euskadi Gastronomika, will collaborate with Miniature in this event to disseminate Basque cuisine.  The chefs will make presentations in Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende.

The complete group from Eusko Txoko celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Basque Club and restaurant (photoEE)

Restaurant and Basque Club, the Eusko Txokoa in Armstrong, in the Argentine province of Santa Fe, participated in two important events last week.  On the one hand, they participated in a special edition of the local Communities Festival, its 25th edition, with a food stand and Basque dance show.  On the other, Eusko Txokoa celebrated its 20th anniversary.  At both activities, the dantzaris from the Euskal Biotza in Roldan were in charge of presenting Basque dances.
