Igor Eguren Ordiziako alkateak eta Los Andesko alkate Mauricio Navarrok lankidetza hitzarmena sinatu dute Ordiziako Udalak Txileko Valparaiso eskualdeko ordezkaritza bati harrera egin dio gaur goizean. Xabier Martinez sukaldariaren eta udal ordezkarien eskutik Ordiziako azoka bisitatu eta gero, udalean ekitaldi xume bat egin da, eta Igor Eguren Ordiziako alkateak eta Los Andesko alkate Mauricio Navarrok lankidetza hitzarmen bat sinatu dute, bi herrien arteko harremana sendotzeko konpromisoa hartuz, bai berrikuntza sozial eta produktiboaren alorrean, eta baita maila akademiko eta kulturalean trukeak egiteko ere.

Misioa maiatzaren 11 eta 15a bitartean egingo da eta 19 enpresek parte hartuko dute, 9 gipuzkoar, 8 bizkaitar, arabar 1 eta errioxako 1. Sektoreei dagokionez, makina-erreminta, eraikuntzako materiala, instalazio elektrikoak, ingenieria, automozioa, industriako produktuak, ekipamendu ondasunak, industria kimikoa, material elektrikoa, etxetresnak... hauek izango lirateke herrialdea bisitatuko duten enpresen sektoreak.

Du 12 au 16 mai le Comité des Fêtes et la ville, service culture, organisent une semaine Basque. Une semaine thématique qui débutera mardi prochain avec toute une palette d'animations, musique, danse, jeux pour enfants, gastronomie, exposition… en la salle polyvalente, avec au programme : Mardi, atelier culinaire avec confection d'un gâteau basque à l'Espace Cézanne. Un repas basque sera servi dans les écoles balmanaises. Mercredi, : Jeux basques organisés dans tous les centres de loisirs. Marie-Louise Lekumberry looked around the main hall at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center on Sunday, at the 150-plus chairs filled with friends, relatives and faithful customers. “This is like it’s Saturday night at the JT,” she said, “but there are no picons here.” Flanked by brothers Robert and J.B, mother Shirley Lekumberry Fraser and her nieces and nephew, Marie-Louise was at the podium to share tales of the JT Basque Bar and Dining Room, the first in the historical society’s storyteller series.

Following Boise's 2010 edition of Jaildi—the all-things-Basque celebration that occurs every five years—Argia Beristain and her husband made a decision: They wanted to move to Boise before the next one. Three years later, the Beristain clan relocated from the East Coast to the City of Trees. Before the movers even arrived with her furniture, Beristain got a call from a professor with Boise State University's Basque Studies program, asking her to help put together a Basque Soccer Friendly. Beristain said she had no idea how much the preparations would take over her life—all while raising three children, ages 2, 4 and 6.

Como todo donostiarra que se precie, soy una persona disfrutona, especialmente con todo lo que esté relacionado con la gastronomía. Quizá sea lo menos que se puede esperar de alguien que ha crecido en una familia en la que se le daba mucha importancia a la cocina y todo lo que le rodea. De hecho, soy consciente de que a la hora de cocinar mis orígenes me delatan. Y dentro de la cocina vasca, merecen un apartado especial los pinchos, auténticos representantes de lo más exquisito de su cocina pero en miniatura y por los que siento una especial predilección.

Conocedor por la memoria familiar de algunos de los avatares vitales de Juan José Badiola Gabicagogeascoa, el sacerdote que casó a Sabino Arana Goiri, creo que es una buena ocasión para poner de relieve la personalidad de este presbítero vascófilo. Según los datos del Archivo Histórico Eclesiástico de Bizkaia, al que agradezco esta información, Juan José Badiola nació en Akorda (Ibarrangelu) el día 24 de junio de 1870, fue ordenado sacerdote en Gautegiz Arteaga en 1895 y durante 35 años fue titular de la parroquia de esta localidad hasta su partida a Cuba, a finales de los años 20 del siglo pasado.

The peculiar horror and ruthlessness of the recent raid on Guernica must not cause us to forget the regular and senseless bombardment of Madrid which has been going on continually for the past three weeks. One may take it that this is all part of a policy of intimidation deliberately adopted by the rebels to break the nerve of the loyal civilian population. But neither in the Basque provinces nor at Madrid is it likely to succeed.

Anyone named the best in their field could have easily chosen to work anywhere—perhaps away from home. But Elena Arzak, named the world’s best female chef in 2012 by prestigious industry magazine Restaurant, chose differently. After years of studying and working abroad, Arzak returned to her hometown, the idyllic coastal town of San Sebastián in Spain's Basque Autonomous Community, where her father leads a celebrated restaurant that is part of a 118-year-old family legacy.
