They will participateg in "Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country" (BAC) on March 18 with a stand. After that, the Chamber announce a large number of activities especially aimed at the business world, at home and abroad. The last proposal of the first semester will be the second edition of the Basque Gastronomic Week that will coincider with the celebration of San Fermin,.

Iñaki Goirizelaia, who recently stepped down as the University of the Basque Country’s President, is currently at Boise State University as the first Eloise Garmendia Bieter Chair. As part of his residence at Boise State University, he will teach a one-credit course as part of his activities, along with participating in the Provost Lecture Series and giving a community talk on Basque dance.

Their names are Florecia Aristegui and Ayelen Artuch and “Zumaia” is the brand they have created in the south of the Province of Buenos Aires. They are as young as they are active, and they split their time between studies, Basque dance, and crafting. A big part of their large stock of bracelets, chokers, ankle bracelets and necklaces have Basque names, and can be purchased in Argentina, although they are ready to fill all orders.

The San Francisco Basque Cultural Center, the meeting place for Basques in the Bay Area and beyond, will celebrate this weekend its 35th anniversary. The weekend will be full of pilota, good food, music and dancing.

The invitation is for anyone who has been a dantzari at one time or another, including those who still consider themselves dantzaris despite not having put on their abarkas for a time. The event is planned for June 10-11, 2017. People attending should be ready to perform a dance at the festivities as well. On another note, Denak Bat is also very satisfied with its Jaialdi 2017 that took place at “la Feliz” on the last weekend in January.

Basques in Salt Lake City, UT had an intense weekend, last weekend with the celebration on Saturday, of the NABO Winter meeting followed by the club’s Basque Dinner and Dance,” the club’s main fundraising activity. The NABO meeting began at 8am and concluded by noon; the dinner dance began at 6pm and the festivities ran into the night. Both were a success.

“Gure Gutiziak” was created in 2012 in the heart of a Basque family in Argentina, in the city of Gral. Las Heras. The project has grown day by day and today they produce nearly 50 homemade food products without preservatives, both sweet and savory. For anyone who has tried them and enjoys them, “Gure Gutiziak” will have a stand at the BAC on March 18 from noon to 6pm on the Avenida de Mayo in the capital city.

The Basque Government’s Secretary General of Foreign Action, Marian Elorza, made a presentation yesterday at the Commission of European Affairs and Foreign Action at the Basque Parliament to present an outline of its activities in regards to this area. She appeared accompanied by the Director of European Affairs, Mikel Anton, and the new Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu. The activities at the Basque-Argentine Foundation, Juan de Garay, in Buenos Aires will begin on March 7th with a lecture, “How Many Basques and their Descendants with Basque Surnames are there in the World?” by Jorge Beramendi. The institution also has announced a tour to Iparralde and the south of France that will depart from Buenos Aires on May 15.

The Bizkaian group led by Agus Barandiaran is preparing a tour of Basque clubs in Argentina in November. During their performances, Korrontzi will perform along with local dantzaris who will be trained beforehand. The tour program is not yet determined and dates and places will continue to be determined as the group receives invitations. Anyone interested in hosting a recital should get in touch with them.
