The idea that was tossed around family members, has now become a reality. The Atlanta Basque Club is now taking steps to register itself as a non-profit organization so it can become a part of NABO and be officially recognized by the Basque Government. This in an effort to gather the suspected 200 or so Basque families in the area.

The Laurak Bat Basque Club has published a map that indicates the placement of the various stands, gazebos, stages, along with the various entities participating in tomorrow’s Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country Festival 2017, in the middle of the capital city, on Ave. de Mayo at the intersection with Bolivar and Chacabuco.

As reported by the Academy of the Basque Language, Piarres Charritton, Euskaltzain Emeritus, passed away in Baiona. Born in Hazparne, Lapurdi, he was 95 years old. He lived at various times of his life outside of the Basque Country and was one of the instigators and founders of the Euskal Etxea in Paris.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia leads a mission in Massachusetts together with universities, several companies and the technology centres Tecnalia and IK4. The renowned Venture Café, a forum for entrepreneurs, has hosted an information event to publicize Bizkaia and its policies on innovative business creation and talent attraction.

The Argentine Film Series at the Euskal Etxea in Gral. Rodriguez began with the projection of two shorts and then the film Amama. Coordinated by Carlos Gabilondo, the event was very successful and attracted a large audience that didn’t only enjoy the film but also stayed and had dinner with their hosts. The series will continue all year long interspersing Basque and Argentine films.

EuskalKultura.com is preparing its interactive stand for this Saturday at the Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country Festival with photos, prizes and raffles for all that visit them. There will be a raffle every hour with stickers, CDs, books and Basque products, along with a special raffle for a tablet. To participate in the hourly raffles, all you have to do is answer some simple questions. In the second case, all you have to do is take a selfie at our stand and send it to social media. The Hiru Erreka Basque Club and the city of Tres Arroyos are working on improving the Basque Plaza and to this end, the Basque club has launched a campaign. Anyone who wishes to contribute to the face lift that will have the green space, are encouraged to bring red, green and/or white material scraps that will be sued in the construction of paths, murals and decorations with Basque motifs. The material will be collected through the beginning of April.

The anniversary dinner to celebrate Gure Txoko’s 34th birthday, 24 in its current location, took place on February 25th. Members and friends of the club gathered in a wonderful atmosphere that was full of singing from both lands, thanks to Enrique Castro, Nati and Luis Mariano (voices) and percussion by Joseba Aramayo. The club already begun its Mus tournament and has also announced an outing to a cider house on April 1-2.

The course, “Business Development. Lines of Management of the Mondragon Group,” will be part of International Week organized by the National University of Entre Rios, in Argentina, scheduled for March 27-31 at the College of Economic Sciences in Parana. The University contacted the local Urrundik Basque Club to close the seminar with a Basque dance performance.

Last Saturday and Sunday Basque instructors who teach at various Basque clubs in the US, thanks to an agreement between NABO and HABE (Basque Government agency responsible for adult language instruction), met at the Boise Basque Museum and Cultural Center. Today, there are 17 instructors teaching in the US and Canada at 14 euskal etxeas with a total of 150 students.
