Having been cancelled due to the flooding, the show, “Barbau Hamalau” returns to Zuberoa this week

Promotional poster for "Barbau Hamalau" by Dominika Rekalt “Barbau hamalau” an artistic creation driven by local artists that renews the forms and codes of the pastorals and the maskaradas, will be presented this Wednesday and Thursday in Ozaze, Zuberoa. The show has been supported by the cultural collective Hebentik, and was written by artist, Dominika Rekalt. The work is a mix of dance, music and theater. Prior performances were cancelled, on July 4-5, due to flooding, but this week anyone wishing to see it will have another opportunity to enjoy this unique proposition.

The Eusko Etxea in Pilar invites everyone to celebrate its 15th anniversary on August 3rd

15th Anniversary celebration lunch ticket The invitation is aimed at members and friends of the club, not only in the local area but also representatives of nearby Basque clubs who wish to share in the celebration of the Pilar Eusko Etxea’s 15th birthday. Pilar is located in the Argentinean province of Buenos Aires. Lunch will be held on August 3rd at the Club Atletico Pilar and will conclude with a toast. The club requests RSVPs with ample notice.

Gooding's picnic in this archive photo (photoEuskalKultura.com) Food, games, performances, competitions, exhibitions… The Gooding Basque Association has prepared a complete “menu” for this year’s festivity. Intended to bring joy to kids and adults this edition will be celebrated at the Basque Center, not at the fairgrounds as it used to be – “since the clubhouse is air conditioned it will be more comfortable for all and hopefully we’ll attract more people there,” as Phil Sarasqueta, president of the Gooding Basque Association, told Euskalkultura.com.

Arrecifes welcomed international Argentine, and Basque club member, Pablo Zabaleta with an Aurresku

A crowd gathered in Arrecifes last Wednesday to greet one of its most famous sons, soccer player Pablo Zabaleta, member of the selection that was the World Cup runner up at the tournament that took place in Brazil. The player, who plays for Manchester City, was a member of the Euskaldunak Denak Bat club as a child; his Basque heritage was very present during the tribute, where an Aurresku was danced in his honor, as seen in the photos and videos published by the Basque club.

Maral provided the music for the 2nd Home Deli Festival organized by the Villegasko Euskaldunak Basque Club

Last year's event took place on July 2nd (photoEE) The Villegasko Euskaldunak Basque club in Gral. Villegas, in the Argentinean province of Buenos Aires, celebrated San Fermin with a Home Deli Festival. For the second year in a row, the gastronomic-cultural event gathered nearly 300 people who also enjoyed a concert by the Basque-Argentinean group, Maral.

Aitor Alava is a Basque dance instructor in Buenos Aires, director of the Ekin Dantzari Taldea dance group (photo EuskalKultura.com) Aitor Alava was born 41 years ago in Zuhatza, Araba and has lived in Buenos Aires for the last 10. His wife is a Basque from Buenos Aires and he has a daughter Maialen, Aitor lived to teach Basque dance and Tango in the capital of Tango. He likes Argentina and appreciates its dynamism.

Bermeo and Miami unite for Joseba Andoni: on Saturday, activities and t-shirt sales at the Tala

Joseba Andoni's mom's friends in Bermeo Just like the Euskal Etxea in Miami did, a group of friends in Bermeo have launched a campaign in solidarity of Joseba Andoni Larrazabal, an 8-year-old boy that needs treatment. Joseba Andoni nearly drowned in a pool at the age of 11 months, in an accident that has left him with serious developmental delays, and a seizure disorder. The family moved to Miami where he was receiving special treatment. Now, he requires more very expensive treatment and his friends on both sides of the Atlantic have mobilized to help raise funds. Kherau put the loneliness of Basque sheepherders in the West into lyrics and music in the song “Nevada”

Kherau after a concert in 2013 (photowww.kherau.com) The Bizkaian group, Kherau published a new album Aukhera with a song entitled “Nevada.” We listened to it and yes, it is a song about the Diaspora: a herder that had to immigrate to America sings to his newborn daughter that he left at home. It is a melancholic and beautiful song, the testimony of the experience of those who had to emigrate. “We tried to do a jota to the western music: it’s not music from here or there, something in the middle,” one of the group members, Iker Lope de Bergara, told EuskalKultura.com.

The night before, the Ceol irish pub will host a concert of Amuma Says No – “They will make this year’s picnic more unique,” said Paul Woodin, president of the Club, to Euskalkultura.com. This is going to be his first picnic as president of Zazpiak Bat: “Our goal is to try to attract more people to our culture, not just Basques,” he says.

Argentinean Selection: Crowds will be in Arrecifes today as Pablo Zabaleta is declared an illustrious citizen

Today the city of Arrecifes will declare Pablo Zabaleta as an Illustrious Citizen (photoMcfc.co.uk) Great expectation in Arrecifes, Province of Buenos Aires. The reception will take place today at 19:15 at the Plaza Mitre, where a plaque will be installed in front of the City Hall. During the event, Mayor Daniel Bolinaga will present the defender of the runner up in the 2014 World Cup Championship the ordinance which declares him an illustrious citizen. Before arriving, Zableta will tour the streets of the city to greet his friends, neighbors, and of course members of Euskaldunak Denak Bat where, he danced Basque dances and attended San Ignacio celebrations as a child.
