The exhibition on the philosopher from Bilbao by Olga Aristegui de Baliña took place at the Domingo F. Sarmiento Municipal Library of San Miguel. The group that celebrates its fifth anniversary this year anticipates its next talk, dedicated to the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, to take place on November 22nd in the same place.

California has held two concerts of three Basque music bands in the last few days. Pop-rock band Tania de Sousa and stoner-rockers Niña Coyote eta Chico Tornado played in San Francisco on the 18th and in Los Angeles this past Wednesday, along with the popular musician Fermin Muguruza. Ex Tijuana no! singer Ceci Bastida also joined the mini-tour with her solo band. “This is a very special tour for me –said Muguruza to EuskalKultura.com− for the people I’m playing with and because I decided to stay a little bit away from the stages.”

Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu will leave for Mexico this Sunday on a trip whose main goal is business and economics, but one that will also allow meeting with the Basque community there. On Monday Urkullu will attend the official inauguration of the University of Mondragon-UCO in Queretaro. The Lehendakari’s visit was preceded by a delegation of Basque businesspeople, led by the Minister of Economic Development and Competiveness, Arantza Tapia, who has been in the country since Thursday.

The work is the winner of the First Theater Contest “Nire Etxea – My House,” organized by the Euzko Etxea as part of its 70th Anniversary and Semana Nacional Vasca 2014 and stages, with humor and reflection, the various forms to identify a Basque person in Basque clubs today. A(nt)ZE(z)LANA!, will be presented on Thursday November 6th at 7pm in the auditorium at the “Islas Malvinas” Cultural Center in La Plata as a read theater piece.

Over the last few days Facebook has been the site of a large campaign from the community in Quilmes promoting and soliciting support for the Basque club to reopen there. Basque and Argentine personalities from the worlds of culture and various institutions have joined in with their support and have responded with dozens of messages of encouragement.

The school named after Dr. Nelson Vigo, World Xare Runner up in 1952, will be located at the Trinketa at the Circulo Sportivo in Salto, the birth place of many great pelotaris. The school’s opening was attended by Argentinean players and representatives from the schools at Laurak Bat and Gure Echea in Buenos Aires. It was also an opportunity to honor Jose Roque Alfieri and Elbio Liberatore, past glories who still cheer for, and whose daily presence fills the Circulo Sportivo with life.

More than 400 dantzaris and several hundred Basques, Basque descendants and friends of the Basque culture will once again gather for Semana Nacional Vasca from November 1-9 in La Plata. As organizer of the mega-event the local Euzko Etxea has published the final program and promotional posters of the activities planned.

The program for Basque language teacher training in Argentina “Argentinan Euskaraz” celebrates its first quarter-century of life next year and FEVA invites Basque clubs and institutions that teach the language to participate in associated activities. The range of proposals will be broad and will include a contest to choose the anniversary’s logo, a book on the history of the language in the country and a traveling exhibit organized by the Delegation of Euskadi in Argentina and the Etxepare Basque Institute.

The Basque community in Caracas celebrates every year the festival of San Antolin with a special remembrance of translator Antzar Eguna or Goose Day and the festivities in Lekeitio. This year, the Eusko Etxea in Caracas was once again the meeting point, this time with a special visit from a group of 30 members of the Euskal Etxea in Carabobo, Valencia led by its president, Arrate Coscojuela. On Sunday, November 2, at 2:30 p.m., Boise will host the 18th ‘Omenaldia’ Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Oinkari female dancers and the Biotzetik Basque Choir will be part of the ceremony, that will be followed by a potluck at the church hall. “Around 80 people will be remembered, but the list is not completed yet; we are still receiving calls and messages,” as Patty Miller, director of the Basque Museum, told EuskalKultura.com.
