The “Dairyman Tour” is a classic car race organized annually outside of Buenos Aires by the General Las Heras Basque Club, with a circuit that recalls the routes that the Basque dairymen followed at the beginning of last century. This time, after the awards ceremony, Basque club members went to the Pato Field in Gral. Las Heras, where the final of the “Las Heras Capital Nacional del Pato,” was played, and to unveil a plaque in honor of the national sport. Pato is similar to Polo, however it was first played with a live duck in a bag, thus its name in Spanish.

Another edition of the Durangoko Azoka, Book and Album Fair begins this Friday and will run through the 6th. This year, besides publishers, record companies and other agents of Basque culture, the fair will also feature the presence of the Basque community in Argentina, on behalf of the Basque Diaspora. During the fair publications by Basques in Argentina will be presented and talks and presentations will also be organized.

“La Vasca,” is a young Company, family owned, that emerged from a kitchen in Argentina where the Basque customs are their daily bread. From the town of Los Toldos in the province of Buenos Aires, Yanina Luberriaga, whose great grandpa was from Ezpeleta, Lapurdi uses a recipe that never fails: a perfect dose of “work, family and values.”

The group from Lapurdi, Patxi eta Konpainia, led by Patxi Perez, toured Argentina for more than a month. The tour included workshops on dance and music and a special stop in Necochea to play at the dances at Semana Vasca. They are very happy with the tour, and now back in Euskal Herria, the musicians send a thank you message to all of their friends in Argentina. Here is a photo review of the trip.

The festivities are set for December 10th to celebrate the anniversary as well as the International Day of Euskera. The youth are in charge of the dinner menu, while the Basque students and teachers will organize activities related to the language, including showing videos. This is how the year will come to an end at Denak Bat, an intense one that included a concert by the group Kalakan at the clubhouse.

Berri Txarrak, one of the more international Basque groups, will be in South America this December on a tour with the group Descendents. Concerts have already been set in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago, with more now being added in these cities, along with new concert dates in Lima and Bogota.

Continuing with its substantial program of activities, the Juan de Garay Basque-Argentine Foundation will hold today its annual dinner. At the same time, they will honor Horacio Larre Oroño, Roberto Landaburu and Beatriz Aguirre-Urreta for their outstanding contribution to the Argentine society. The Foundation will continue its cultural program on November 29th with a talk about the Gaztemundu 2016 experience.

Thanks to the Etxepare Basque Institute, Basque literature was present for another year at the main international fairs this fall. Right now, writer Miren Agure Meabe is at the Miami Book Fair, and on Saturday, Iban Zaldua will travel to the International Literature Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico. The goal of both trips, is to bring Basque culture to the world and create new networks for its dissemination.

The six prizes in EuskalKultura.com’s November raffle are already spoken for with three of them going to Argentina, and the others going to Uruguay, Germany and the US.
