Elko resident Anita Anacabe-Franzoia has a lot of experience showing the Basque Country to Americans who want to get to know the country, in a different way, beyond what they would get with typical tourist guides. Anacabe has guided various trips over the last several years, where she shares her knowledge and personal experience of the Basque Country with the travelers. She is a well-known and active member of the US Basque community, and as such was awarded NABO’s Bizi Emankorra award last year, in recognition of her work with Basque culture in the US. The trip will begin on September 26 from Salt Lake City and will end on October 8, 2013. If you are interested, you still have time to register!

Elko, NV.  The deadline to register for the 2013 Euskal Herria Tour, guided by Anita Anacabe-Franzoia, is open. As in previous years, Anacabe organized the trip in collaboration with the Education First agency.  The group will leave Salt Lake City and will last for 13 days.

Anacabe explained the details of the trip to EuskalKultura.com.  The group will arrive in Bilbao on September 27 where it will travel to Donostia.  In the following days stops will include: Zugarramurdi, Donibane Lohizune, Uharte Arakil, Donibane Garazi, Orreaga, Bilbao, Laguardia, Bermeo, Bakio, Gaztelugatxe, Lekeitio, Markina and Gernika.

In search of family

In previous editions, besides Americans who were interested in getting to know Euskal Herria and the Basque culture better, there were also a large number of participants of Basque origin who were in search of their roots.  Anacabe will leave some free time in the itinerary this year for people who wish to look for family.  Additionally, if participants would like to relocate family with whom they have lost contact, she is asking them to provide as much information possible in order for her to try and find them and organize a get-together.

Anyone wanting more information on the trip can contact Anita via email here. Complete information on the tour is available on Education First College Study Tour´s website: www.efcollegestudytours.com/enroll.  The number of the trip is 1202698.
