The Kotoiaren Lurra Basque club in Chaco participated in the 136th Anniversary of the city of Resistencia

The Kotoiaren Lurra Basque club in the Argentinean province of Chaco participated on February 2nd in the 136th anniversary events of the city of Resistencia, its capital city. The club was part of the festivities along with other local communities including the Italian, Greek, Paraguayan, and Croatian. Club representatives took the stage at the Parque 2 de Febrero where the Basque flag flew thanks to standard bearer Iñaki Echarri.

Resistencia, Argentina.  The Kotoiaren Lurra Basque club in Chaco participated in the commemoration of the 136th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Resistencia, capital city of the province of Chac,o that was established on February 2, 1878 by a group of Friulian immigrants.

The main events were organized by local authorities including the participation of the city’s mayor Aida Ayala along with various communities found in the province including the Basque, Italian, Greek, Paraguayan and Croatian.

There first was a symbolic landing on the Rio Negro to create a scenic setting in the park’s amphitheater based on the history of the city and the province.  The Basque club flew the Ikurriña thanks to Iñaki Echarri.
