Bilbo, Bizkaia.  On January 14 the Azkue Foundation presented EuskalPlay, a website that offers users from anywhere in the world the possibility to play while learning Basque, free and online.

EuskalPlay provides a total of nine games that allow visitors to practice Basque in a didactic and fun way.  Each game works on a different aspect of the Basque language; learning words from different dialects, find synonyms, find the origins of Basque words, proverbs, and get to know the history of dialects or work with vocabulary from different areas…Additionally different formats are used so that the game is entertaining: there is matching, word searches, fill in the blank, comic strips…

According to the Azkue Foundation use of the platform is completely open and anyone can use it.  It was developed for the general public but taking into account that it would be especially useful in schools, each game includes different levels indicating which school level would get the most benefit from each.
