For another year the Zinemaldia (Film Festival) at Barcelona’s Basque club is showing the Catalan capital a large selection of the most recent Basque films from February 1-28. The film festival is celebrating its 13th edition this year, and as a sign of its success is taking a new step, screening the documentary “Gazta zati bat” in theaters. The festival includes animation, drama, comedy, shorts and documentaries and will also be attended by actors and directors to present their works to the public.

Barcelona, Catalonia.  Barcelona’s Euskal Etxea presented this year’s Zinemaldia program which ensures that the festival “has grown up,” because for the first time, it has reached theaters.  On February 15, the documentary Gazta zati bat will be shown in the Girona Theater.  This is, without a doubt, a sign of how engrained the festival is in the larger cultural agenda in Barcelona.

The Zinemaldia will begin on February 1 and will run through the 28. Besides showings that will take place at the Girona, the inaugural session by Kimuak will take place outside at the Passeig del Born and is free, and the rest of the sessions will take place at the Euskal Etxea where members are admitted free and non-members are asked to pay one Euro.
