Monday was the first day of classes to prepare future Basque language teachers, in Boise (ID). The goal of this course, organized by HABE (Basque Government), is to “train Basque-Americans to teach Basque language in their communities,” as Aitor Inarra stated. Inarra is one of NABO’s Euskara coordinators, along with Itxaso Cayero, with Martin Goicoechea serving as NABO Euskara chairman. The course will end this Sunday, June the 8th.

Boise, Idaho. Students take six hours of oral classes a day – from 9 am to 12 pm and from 1:30-4:30 pm. Morning lessons are being given by HABE technician Kinku Zinzunegi and afternoon classes are being taught by Aitor Inarra himself.

Even though most students are from Boise, there are also some that came from Colorado, California, and Wyoming. Inarra is happy about the students' and future teachers' “good command” of Euskara.

These students are currently immersed in an internet-based four-year program that will allow them to teach Basque, by the end of this period. They are studying an average of 2-3 hours per day, plus a weekly on-line meeting with a tutor from the Maizpide language-school, in Lazkao (Gipuzkoa, Basque Country).
