The XXXIV World Mus Championships begin this next weekend in Angelu-Anglet, Lapurdi

The World Mus Championship of Basque Collectivities will begin this Saturday in Angelu-Anglet (Lapurdi) where this week representatives from different nations will compete to win the coveted txapela. This is the 35th edition of the tournament which rotates between countries that belong to the World Mus Federation. Last year’s tournament took place in Los Angeles, California. The mus players, besides competing in various rounds of cards, will also have the opportunity to visit various places in Iparralde such as Donibane Lohizune, Ainhoa, Donibane Garazi , Larrun Mountain, Baiona, as well as the Grotto at Lourdes.

Angelu, Lapurdi.  The French Mus Federation is organizing this year’s World Mus Championships of Basque Collectivities that will be held in Angelu from Saturday October 8, through the 16th.  Mus players from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Euskadi, France, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela and the US will be competing.  Last year’s winners were from the Basque Country and so will vigorously defend the txapela that they won in Los Angeles. 

Following are each federation’s mus teams along with their delegates:

-Argentina: Rolando Biaso and Jose Luis Machi. Delegate: Iñaki Aramayo

-Australia: Pedro Altuna and Jose Lasa. Delegate: Ruben Alvaro

-Canada: Pedro Etchart and Ted Ruiz. Delegate: Mike Etchart

-Chile: Tomas Ilzauspe and Alfonso Echenique. Delegate: Simon Echenique

-Euskadi 1: (two teams since they were 2010 champions) Antonio Vicente and Angel Ribero

-Euskadi 2: José Luis San Jose and Alejo Garcia. Delegate: Firmin Lerchundi

-France 1: (two teams since hosting country) Jean Paul Duhart and Joseph Sarraude

-France 2: Julien Amestoy and and Fabrice Etchart

-Mexico: Miguel Mendiburu and Justo Gutierrez. Delegate: Juanjo Arrieta

-Peru: Juan Raul Noblecilla and Juan Jose Meneses

-Spain: Norberto Rodriguez and Andres Fernandez

-Uruguay: Marta Alicia Perdomo and Eugenio Bereza. Delegate: Denis Garcia

-USA: Etienne Ibarra and Etienne Jorajuria. Delegate: Jean Baptiste Bidegaray

-Venezuela: Ausencio Eguilaz and Mariano Larrañaga
