The Donostia style danborrada will reverberate once again in Necochea, Argentina from January 20-25

With the New Year just around the corner, many Basque clubs in the Souther Cone are finalizing the details for their farewell to the year and a well-deserved rest. That’s not the case at the Euzko Etxea in Necochea that will continue its traditional Aste Nagusia (Semana Grande or Big Week) celebration for another year. The festivities will take place from January 20-25, 2014. The club invites the community to plan its vacations at this seaside resort and share a week in which Necochea will reverberate the rhythm of the drums in Donostia.

Nechochea, Argentina. Following the local tradition, the Euzko Etxea in Necochea will celebrate the San Sebastian festivals and the Aste Nagusia 2014 with events taking place from January 20-25th, except the sports events that will begin earlier.  The club extends an invitation to not only the local community to participate but also to the community spread all over the country, to choose the seaside city as a tourist destination and at the same time they can share in the great festival dedicated to the Basque cultural capital.

The tentative program follows:

January 12-16

-Paleta tournament with pelota de cuero, with the presence of big names at the national and international levels.

January 20

-20hs. Mass at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church
-21hs. Tamborrada through the streets

January 21

-20hs. Basque gastronomy workshop by renowned Chef Arantza Soraluce

January 22

-21hs.  Screening of the film Baztan in the clubhouse cultural room

January 23

-20hs, Pintxo Eguna (Pintxo Day): Typical Basque Pintxo tasting in the club’s ballroom

January 24

-20hs. Public dance at the Basque club. Dancing and traditional food

January 25

-20hs. Herri Kirolak in the boulevard in front of the Euskal Etxea with the participation of visiting clubs
-22hs. St Sebastien Dinner/Dance in the ballroom with traditional paella.  Drums will be heard again during the dinner and a new club mayor will be chosen.  After dinner there will be a public dance.
