The deadline to submit papers for the 8th International Euskal Herria Mugaz Gaindi Workshop is July 15th

Historians and researchers from the Basque Diaspora who wish to participate in the 8th International Workshop: Euskal Herria Mugaz Gaindi have the opportunity to submit proposals until July 15th. All papers should be related to the theme: the Basque presence in the world and include a brief summary of the presentation. All insterested should send proposals to the Secretary of the Workshop (jonander.ramos@ehu.es) before July, 15th. The seminar will be held in Donostia in November, coinciding with this year’s World Congress of Basque Communities.

Donostia-San Sebastian. Following previous editions of this International Workshop, that have been held so far in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country), Montevideo (Uruguay), Baiona (Basque Country), Bakersfield (California), Arrasate-Mondragón (Basque Country) and Boise (Idaho), the next one will be organized in November 2011, alongside the events of the World Congress of Basque Communities that the Basque Government will celebrate in Donostia-San Sebastian.

As in previous editions of this International Workshop, along with the presented papers, there will be a virtual edition, for those that will not be able to attend the conference personally. By the means of this call of papers the organization invites anyone interested in participating in this Workshop, to send proposals of papers whose topic is directly linked to the Basque presence in the world.

The virtual Workshop will be functioning between November 2nd and 30th, 2011, in the website of "Ikertzaileak", the web of researchers on Basque emigration and presence in the Word, of Euskosare (www.euskosare.org/komunitateak/ikertzaileak).

Interested people should send a proposal to the Secretary of the Workshop (email: jonander.ramos@ehu.es) before July, 15th, 2011, with the following:

1.- Title and abstract of the paper, of no more than 200 words, with the aim, objectives and main lines of the topic .

2.- Name, address and telephone of contact, email, and academic affiliation if applicable.

The definitive text of the paper, whose length will be no more than 25.000 characters (including notes and bibliography), must be sent to the Secretary of the workshop before October 1st, 2011, in order to have time enough to upload all the papers to the website. The organizing committee cannot assure the diffusion of the paper that will be sent after this deadline.

The papers can be presented in any of the official languages of the conference: Basque, Spanish, French or English.
