Program for the XXXVI World Mus Championships that will take place in Puerto Varas, Chile

The Euzko Etxea Basque Center in Santiago Chile is in charge of organizing the World Mus Championships of Basque Collectivities 2013 that will take place in Puerto Varas, in the Chilean touristic region of Los Lagos. The tournament will be played from October 26-November 2 and besides card games, the participating delegations will also get a chance to know this beautiful area of the South of Chile with a varied program of activities and touristic visits.

Santiago, Chile.  The Euzko Etxea Basque club of Chile has presented the program for the XXXVI World Mus Championships of Basque Collectivities that will take place from October 26-November 2 of this year.  The organizing committee has gotten in contact with the participating delegations, in hopes of confirming attendance and trips.

The provisional program is as follows:

Saturday, October 26, 2013

  • 11 a.m.: Arrivals transported from the Tepual Puerto Montt airport to the Hotel Solace Puerto Varas
  • 9:00 p.m.: Reception and presentation of the delegation at the hotel Solace de Puerto Varas
  • 9:30 p.m.: Welcoming cocktail and show

Sunday, October 27, 2013

  • 9:00 a.m.: Delegate meeting
  • 11:00 a.m.: First Mus game/Visit from Turistour representative, offering individual tours and outings for free days.
  • 1:30 p.m.: Lunch
  • 3:00 p.m.: Mus games 2 & 3/Companions to visit the city of Frutillar visiting the beautiful theater of the lake, German cafeterias and artisan fairs.
  • 9:00 p.m.: Dinner at the Hotel

Monday, October 28, 2013

  • 9:00 a.m.: Mus games 4 & 5/Companions will have a tour of Puerto Montt, visiting artisan fishing areas, the Pelluco beach, touristic sites and artisan fairs, markets and restaurants.
  • 1:00 p.m.: Lunch at the Hotel Solace
  • 3:00 p.m.: Mus games 6&7/Companions to visit Los Alerces de Lahuen Ñadi santuary where ancient trees prevail, mainly Larch and Coigüe, Tepa, Canelo and Arrayán. They will then go to the Felmer Museum where they will appreciate the history of the German colonization of the area.
  •  9:00 p.m.: Dinner at the Hotel Solace

  • 9:00 a.m.: Mus game 8
  • 11:00 a.m.: Group outing to Llanquihue
  • 1:00 p.m.: Buffet lunch at the Espantapajaros Restaurant
  • 3:30 p.m.: Skirt lake Llanquihue and climb the Osorno Volcano
  • 6:00 p.m.:Return to Puerto Varas – free time

  • 9:00: Mus games 9&10.  Companions will have time to enjoy activities that they have previously registered for with Turistour, like fly fishing, rafting, canopy, canoeing and various activities.
  • 1:00 p.m.:Lunch
  • 3:00 p.m.: Mus games 11&12/ Companions will continue with individual activities and those who wish will have the afternoon free.
  • 21:00: Dinner at the hotel

  • 8:30 a.m.: Group outing to Peulla, where they will relax and enjoy the world-renowned Saltos del Petrohue, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the South of Chile, including the Todos Los Santos lakes with the Osorno Volcano as a backdrop.  Following this, we will go to Los Santos lake where, from a modern catamaran, we will travel to Peulla, where we will have individual activities like 4X4s, canopy or trekking the beautiful El Salto de La Novia waterfall.
  • 2:00 p.m.: Lunch at the Hotel Natura in Peulla
  • 4:00 p.m.: Board to return to Petrohue
  • 6:00 p.m.: Return to Puerto Varas
  • 9:00 p.m.: Dinner at the Hotel Solace

Friday, November 1, 2013

  • 9:00 a.m.: Final Mus game (13)
  • 11:00 a.m.: Visit to el Fogon, where we will enjoy an authentic day in the country getting to know the lives of the Chilean Huaso with traditional dances and demonstrations of rein management and Chilean rodeo on horseback.
  • 1:00 p.m.: Lunch: Chilean BBQ
  • 4:30 p.m.: Return to Puerto Varas. Free time.
  • 9:00 p.m.: Dinner

Saturday, November 2, 2013

  • 9:00 a.m.: Tie-breaking games if necessary
  • 9:30 a.m.: Complimentary delegates meeting
  • 12:00 p.m.: Gift exchange between delegations
  • 1:00 p.m.: Lunch – free time
  • 9:00 p.m.: Closing dinner and awards ceremony

The cost of the trip for participating delegations (two players plus a delegate in one room) is $1,200/950 €.  The price for companions, double occupancy is $1,400/1,150 € per person.  If any participant, player or delegate would like a single room, the additional cost is $600/455 €.
