EuskalKultura.com’s raffle had 207 entries with prizes going to Argentina, the Basque Country and the US

Prizes included copies of the Joanes comic book, the book Kaliforniakoak, the book Cocina Vasca Campesina and Korrontzi’s 2:1 CD that will now go to the Basque Country, Argentina and the US. 207 people in 13 countries participated by sending an email to this first raffle by EuskalKultura.com this year. Stay tuned because there will be another opportunity to win soon, with great prized related to the Basque culture and production in Basque, Spanish, French and English.

Donostia-San Sebastian. There were a total of 207 people who sent emails to participate in the raffle from 13 different countries; besides the Basque Country,from  Argentina, the US, Peru, Spain, Colombia, France, brazil Catalonia, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Italy.

Eleven emails were disqualified because they were incomplete, didn’t include which prize was desired, or were sent after the deadline.  In relation to the prize it is worth noting that 18 people opted for the Joanes comic book, 24 wanted the Kaliforniakoak book, another 74 opted for the Cocina Vasca Campesina book with another 80 hoping for a Korrontzi CD.

Once again the prizes in this first raffle of 2014

1. – Comic entitled, Joanes, Priest of Pirates, from the Joanes or the Basque Whaler  series, situated in the history of Basque whalers on the North American coast, drawn and published in English in the US by Guillermo Zubiaga, Basque cartoonist in New York.

2. – Kaliforniakoak (1533-1848), a 495-page book by Asun Garikano that gathers Basque news and testimonies of the Basque presence and participation in historic California from the first Western arrival by sea to the territory, to the time that Meixcan Alta California becomes part of the United States under the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo.

3. – Cocina vasca campesina (Basque Rural Cooking), in Spanish by Maria Echave, Basque-Argentine author, that gathers recipes, stories and texts about dishes and experiences developed around the kitchens in Basque-Argentinean homes in its 180 pages.

4. – CD Korrontzi, tradition 2.1 by the Basque folk group Korrontzi with traditional Basque music based on the trikitixa with 16 songs that include elements and support of instruments from other cultures, with a spectacular, happy danceable result.
