Still in the beginning of December and a number of readers have asked where they can find electronic greeting cards in Basque to send to friends and family. This is an article that we publish annually, and we always find new or original cards. We encourage you to celebrate in Basque; all you need is a couple of minutes to send a virtual hug to your loved ones to let them know that you are thinking of them. We will also publish another one dedicated to the kids with addresses and websites for the Olentzero (Basque Santa Claus).

Donostia-San Sebastian.  There are many Basques who surf the net, during this time, looking for Holiday cards in Basque and so like every year EuskalKultura.com would like to help you out.  We’ve gathered websites here that have greeting cards in Basque, or with Basque themes, or having to do with Euskal Herria.  They are free and all you need to send them are a few clicks.  This is the time to send a greeting to a friend or loved one that is far away!

One website that offers a large selection of Basque greeting cards in Basque is HABE’s site for students studying the Basque language: Ikasbil.  These cards are original and humorous and many of them are also animated.  Keeping with modern and colorful images are the cards by the Navarran company Kukuxumusu who creates cards with special characters exclusively for Christmas like the Olentzero, Mari Christmas, and Merri Toro among others.  Argia’s cards are also full of humor and irony and are found in the Mantxut section.

We found more cards online at www.manycomics.com; with titles like Mission Impossible, or the 12 grapes.  At Postalak.com, a site that is dedicated to all kinds of Basque cards, there are also some with a Christmas theme.

New cards from BiscayTIK

The BiscayTIK foundation, supported by Bizkaia’s Provincial Government, has expressly created a service to send Christmas cards, in which we find various images related to Bizkaia: the forest of Oma, Athletic snowmen... The only requirement to send these is to register on the Foundation’s website.

Another option is the Zernola.net site that offers different themed cards, not directly related to Christmas, but that still may be useful.  Categories include: congratulations, seasons, colors, animals and Let’s Go!

A final option comes from Hendaia on Hendaia.com that is dedicated to this Lapurdi locale.  Here they offer some cards in Basque with the possibility of including text that the user wishes to include.

(If you know of more sites with Basque cards, let us know in comments so that we can add them to the list)
