The Basque Club of Miami continued with their fundraising campaign to help pay the medial expenses of Joseba Andoni, an eight-year-old resident of the American city suffering from developmental issues following an accident in his infancy. Last Sunday, Feb 16, Basque center partners gathered to celebrate Valentine´s Day and raise money to help Andoni´s family with the cost of his treatment. All together they raised nearly $1,500.

Miami, USA. Euskal Etxea de Miami is pleased with the response it received last Sunday, Feb. 16, to its Valentine´s Day party and fundraiser. They appreciated the community coming together in an act of solidarity to help raise funds for the medical expenses of Joseba Andoni Larrazabal.

When he was eleven months old, Andoni had a near drowning experience is a swimming pool and has suffered developmental issues since then. His family moved to Miami in 2007 to get him special care, and now the Basque center wants to help them raise the necessary funds to continue with a new treatment.

The party was a success with its great turnout and lively atmosphere, but the group’s intentions made the event even more special. That day they came together in support of Andoni and his family and raised a total of $1,455 to go towards his treatment.

The party was made possible by the collaboration of many community members. Notable contributors were chef Mikel Urrutia, Agnés and David, Pepe Gutierrez and his spouse Paloma, who donated the ham for the raffle basket, and Jaime and Susan Angulo, who opened their home up for the event.
