Miami’s Euskal Etxea continues its campaign in support of Joseba Andoni Larrazabal, a child from Bakio who has been in Florida since 2007. After suffering an accident as a toddler, a near-drowning, he has required special therapy to recuperate. The Basque club has launched a campaign to raise funds for him and this Sunday they will hold a special celebration to raise money for his treatment. The club invites anyone who is able to contribute through its website.

Miami, Florida.  The Miami Basque club has organized a cocktail party to raise money for the campaign in support of Joseba Andoni Larrazabal, an 8 year-old child who suffered brain damage in a near-drowning as a toddler.  His family moved to Miami so that he could receive special treatment at Miami Children’s Hospital.  Since then, Joseba Andoni, his little brother Enaitz his mother Eneritz and his family have been an active part of the Miami Euskal Etxea.

Now, since he is 8 he no longer qualifies for the program at the Miami Children’s Hospital and his only hope to recover is a new treatment using stem cells that is also used in various hospitals in the US, and has had good results.  This treatment isn’t covered by medical insurance and is very expensive so that is why the club has organized a campaign to help them raise the funds necessary.

The campaign began two weeks ago and the club is totally dedicated to it.  This Sunday, December 1st, they will hold an aperitif where those in attendance will be able to contribute to the campaign directly to help the Larrazabal family with the prohibitive costs of Joseba Andoni’s treatment.

The event will take place at the Angulos' residence and will include musical entertainment including txistu, accordion, and guitar, according to club member Boni Guenetxea, club and campaign committee member.  Those attending will receive a raffle ticket for a Christmas basket, as well as shares in Christmas lotto tickets that will take place on December 22nd.

The club invites anyone who can’t attend in person to donate via its website that also includes more information about Joseba Andoni.
