Application period for this year’s Gaztemundu program opened April 18th; deadline to apply May 19, 2011

Information regarding applying for this year’s Gaztemundu program was provided in the Basque country's April 18th official bulletin. The program is open to all between the ages of 18 and 30. In addition to the usual requirements, this year’s candidates must also submit a written proposal on how to run a Basque entity, including reference to its financing and programming of its activities. The dates for Gaztemundu 2011 are October 23 to November 6, coinciding with the World Congress of Basque Communities. The deadline for applications ends on May 19, 2011.

ABSTRACT. Details and requirements

- Number of seats. The maximum number of participants in this edition is 30

- Eligibility Requirements

1 .- Be between the ages of 18 and 30 as of January 1, 2011
2 .- To reside outside of the Autonomous Community of Euskadi
3 .- To be a member or associate, for at least three years at the time of application, in one of the Basque Centers-Euskal Etxeak officially recognized and registered in the Register of Basque Centers of the Basque Government
4 .- To have done a study on the model of management of a Basque entity, with references to the areas of funding and programming
5 .- Never having participated previously in a Gaztemundu program

- Criteria for assessing applications.

1 .- Among the applications submitted, the Evaluation Commission will rate each using the following criteria:

a) Assessment of work or study. Up to 40 points [referring to written proposal regarding "Model study on the management of a Basque entity, with references to the areas of funding and programming" these four aspects, each of them 10 points: the quality of the proposal, the sources used, the degree of involvement and personal contribution]

b) Extent of participation of the applicant in the social life of the Basque Centre-Euskal Etxea to which it belongs. Up to 35 points [Ranked the organization, development and / or participation in various school activities and attendance at bodies]

c) Knowledge of Euskera. Up to 15 points [5 points are awarded to the knowledge of basic grade, 10 intermediate level knowledge and understanding of grade 15 to high]

d) Not having visited the Basque Country. Up to 10 Points [Only scored 10 points to those who have never visited the Basque Country]

To be admitted to the selection process, applications must obtain at least 50 points

- Documentation required

a) Copy of passport or identity card where proof of age and place of residence is provided

b) Basque Center Certification attesting to the status of partner or member with a length of, at least three years at the time of application, in one of the Basque Centers-Euskal Etxeak officially recognized and registered in the register of Basque centers. They also must certify that the Centre will reimburse the expenses incurred by the person awarded participation for breach of obligations, and attach a report on the degree of participation of the individual applicant's social life

c) Study on the model of management of a Basque, with references to the areas of funding and programming, with a maximum of 10 pages

d) Proof of knowledge of Euskera

The application shall be signed by the applicant

- Deadline for submitting applications

Applications must be submitted within one month from the day following the publication of this resolution in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country.  Deadline is May 19, 2011
