The television series "Longmire," based on the fictional character of a sheriff created by writer Craig Johnson, has announced a casting call for one hundred Basques in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The goal is to shoot a scene that takes place in a Basque festival, so people featured will be singing, dancing and playing traditional Basque instruments. The scene will be shot on April 19th, Blas Uberuaga, president of the Santa Fe Basque Club, told us.

Santa Fe, New Mexico. Through the blog A Basque in Boise, run by Idaho resident Henar Chico, we learned of a casting call spread by Blas Uberuaga, creator of the popular page buber.net (pioneer of the websites on the internet Basque culture), and President of New Mexico Euskal Etxea. This is an exciting opportunity coming up this month for Basques in the Santa Fe area.

Blas has confirmed to EuskalKultura.com that the casting director for the series "Longmire", Robert Baxter, made contact with the Basque Club for help in collecting one hundred Basques in Santa Fe. The goal is to shoot a scene in a Basque festival, which will be part of a chapter of the hit series that airs on the channel A & E.

A hundred people are needed for this scene, so if you can play music and dance traditional Basque dances, you can be a part! We are sure there will be plenty of volunteers. It can also be an opportunity for dantza groups wishing to make themselves known and show Basque culture on national tv.

The scene will be shot in Santa Fe, on April 19, 2013. Those interested in participating should send a photo and their phone number to the e-mail robertbaxtercasting@gmail.com or call 505 - 310-3404.
