Donostia-San Sebastián. During this time of forced confinement due to the Coronavirus, a group of citizens have come together under the name "Euskal Herria batera" proposing that people celebrate Aberri Eguna from their balconies, this coming Sunday, with Ikurriñas and or Navarrese flags and by singing a song all while taking a picture of the activity in order to create a gigantic mosaic.

They explain that it is about remembering those who have lost their lives in this health crisis, showing pain and gratitude to those who help the population.  The group that has made the call public is comprised of 27 citizens, some of which are in the Diaspora, one of the signers being from Buenos Aires.

They propose individual celebrations as well as collective ones.  They will continue to make announcements so that many fellow citizens will go their balconies at a specified time with an Ikurriña or Navarrese flag while a popular song plays on the radio that everyone is invited to sing.  Aberri Eguna aims to be spread around the world on social media.

Supporters of Aberri Eguna on balconies emphasize that in this Basque community crisis “it has again shown its strength.” “On this basis, and facing future challenges we want to support collaboration between institutions, agents and the citizenry so that we can act together without giving up indivudal voices when the situation requires.”

Details of the proposal are available here: www.aberrieguna2020.eus
