Jean Pierre Cachenaut, Basque chaplain in the US for over 8 years, and Itziar Aguirre, renowned Basque-Argentinean chef in Rosario, Argentina.

Baiona, Lapurdi. The March edition of “8 Herrialdeak Zuzenean” will bring stories from Basques in the US and Argentina thanks to guests Fr. Jean Pierre Cachenaut and Itziar Aguirre. Father Cachenaut was chaplain of the US Basque community from 1977-1986 and even though much time has passed, he continues to have a close relationship with Basques there.

The second guest this month is Chef Itziar Aguirre, who runs the restaurant of the Zazpirak Bat Basque Center in Rosario. Argentina and is very well-known in the country for her participation in cooking programs on TV. Last year, she also added a very interesting and beautiful experience of solidarity to her resume with “Pilpileando Argentina”. As part of this program, Aguirre tours various Basque clubs where she teaches cooking classes in exchange for food donations to the NGO Small Gestures.

The program will air this Sunday from 8-9:30 p.m. Basque Country time (11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Pacific) and can also be followed online at euskalirratiak.info.  As with every month, presenters will be Benoit Etcheverry (Diaspora expert and supporter of the 8Probintziak.com association), Robert Acheritogaray (member of the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center), and Adelaide Daraspe (president of the Euskaldunak Basque club in Quebec).
