Corpus Christi, Argentina. Tomorrow, June 30th, is the last day to submit original works to the 2020 Literary Contest sponsored by the Eusko Etxea in Corpus Christi, in the Argentine province of Misiones.  On behalf of the club, Olga Leiciaga, told EuskalKultura.eus that they had already received 112 works by last Saturday in Spanish and another three in Basque.  They have come to them from the Basque Country, Argentina, Spain, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Peru and Mexico.

Due to the Coronavirus, the awards ceremony will not be able to be held during the Cultural Festival organized every year in July-August by the Basque club.  The new details will be published in the next issue of Berripapera, the club’s newsletter.  “Here in Misiones, we have only had one case of Coronavirus, and so we are not allowed to bring people from elsewhere to our community and so our hands are tied,” Leiciaga explained.

The contest is organized by the club’s Atahualpa Yupanqui Library and this year’s theme is “Quarantine,” with the slogan “Something was left within you and something was left out, during this Quarantine." Texts can be poetry, stories or plays, written in Spanish or Basque. Deadline to submit is June 30, at 12 midnight, Argentine time, and must be sent to relasombroso5 @ gmail.com.
