Chivilcoy, Argentina. This morning the sad news was announced about the death of Marta Invernoz, who had been hospitalized at the Pilar Austral Hospital with a serious pneumonia, as a consequence of COVID-19.  Marta Invernoz was one of the Beti Aurrera Basque Club’s pillars, an active member of the local SADE and a former city council member.

Marta was the club’s first Basque teacher, having been trained in the Euskara Munduan program from 2008-2011.  Her commitment to the language of the Basques pushed her to carry out various initiatives linked to Euskera and with the local culture, for example, the bilingual publication in Spanish and Basque of the book Dreams, facts…and words, a poetic anthology by local authors.

Due to the current restrictions caused by the pandemic, Marta’s remains will not be veiled, but the funeral procession will pass by the Basque club around 6:15pm where it will pause for a moment.  Father Lagoa will celebrate mass for her at 7pm.

From EuskalKultura.eus we share in this loss by the Basque community in Chivilcoy, with the Beti Aurrera Basque Club and with her children Marta, Yamil and Iván. Goian bego (GB).
