Olavarria, Argentina.  For the first time in the history of the institution and the city, the Gure Etxe Maitea has started Basque classes aimed at club members and members of the community at large.  The first class took place on September 6th and gathered sixteen students who will return to the classroom tomorrow for their second class.

As far as classes, they will be taught on Saturdays from 14:30-16:30, by Elisabet Echegaray from Azul, who has been trained in the Euskara Munduan program that is run in Argentina jointly by HABE and FEVA. Echegaray is currently the Azul Basque Club teacher.  Directors of the Gure Etxe Maitea club want to express their joy for having accomplished this “cherished dream” and thank FEVA and Elizabeth herself for its efforts to make it possible.

Today, Spring dinner

Many Basque clubs will join in on the Day of Spring festivities and Gure Etxe Maitia will do so tonight, with a dinner/show.  During the evening there will be raffles and a comedy show by Pablo Pinochi.  Tickets can be purchased at Moreno 2910 or Moreno 3078.  For more information, contact the Basque Club on its Facebook page:  Centro Vasco Olavarría

Basque Argentina exhibit

Continuing its tour in the interior of the country, the photo exhibit “Basque Argentina” came to Olavarria. Here it will be available the entire month of September at the headquarters of the French Alliance.  Invited by the organizers, the Basque Club participated in the inauguration of the exhibit with dantzaris.  Guillermo Arnau opened the event with an Aurresku that was followed by the txikis who delighted the crowd with their dance-games.
