New York the place for Basque culture and reflection from October 1-13 with “Basque Cultural Exchange”

Thanks to the Etxepare Basque Institute the “Basque Cultural Exchange,” will take place in New York from October 1-13. The program is a sort a cultural window and will provide an opportunity to get better acquainted with various aspects of contemporary Basque culture through film, roundtables and concerts. Coordinated by Joxean Fernandez, director of the Basque Filmoteca and current visiting professor in the Bernardo Atxaga Chair at the City University of New York, cinema and a large number of Basque titles will be highlighted during the conference that coincide with the 75 anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika. Screenings and discussions will take place on “Gernika and the Spanish Civil War in the Basque Country,” while other sessions will cover “Basque icons in the world.” To conclude there will be an overview of Basque music with a multimedia concert in Basque, English and Spanish.

New York, NY.  Sessions will take place in various places in the city of skyscrapers including in Manhattan at CUNY (City University of New York,) the New York University (KJCC< NYU) the Cervantes Institute of New York and the Anthology Films Archives according to the following program:
