Nearly twenty countries and 347 Pelotaris in the Basque Pelota Worlds Cup held in Mexico starting this Thursday

Delegations from eighteen countries are in Mexico, where the Basque Pelota World Cup will begin this Thursday.  There is a total of 347 pelotaris of various nationalities who will fight to take the title in their respective categories, in matches that will take place in Zinacantepec, in the state of Mexico.  The Mexican Fronton Federation, organizer of the event, has prepared broad coverage of the Championship and will provide updates online, on Facebook and on Twitter.

Zinacantepec, Mexico.  From September 11th to September 21st, pelotaris from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Spain, the US, France, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela will compete in Mexico at the 2014 World Cup of Basque Pelota.

Matches will take place at the new complex called the Zinantepec Palace of Pelota, in the state of Mexico (the name Zinacantepec is a name of Nahuatl origin that means, “next to the hill of bats”).  The site has two courts that are 30 meters long, two Trinketa, 2 courts that are 36 meters long, and one that is 54 meters long, and another that is 20 meters long.  In all, the complex can seat 4,500 spectators. 

Organizers are expecting nearly 45,000 people to attend over the 10 days of competition. For those who are not able to be in Mexico, the coverage of matches on social networks and the internet will be wide, and fans can see results quickly on the World Cup website: (http://www.pelotavasca2014.mx), on the International Federation of Basque Pelota’s Twitter (@pelotavascafipv) or on its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pelotavascafipv), as well as on the websites and social media sites of the respective federations as well.
