The production of Ainara continues, slowly but surely, a movie in Basque, English, French and Spanish that is supported by a group of professional Basques in the Basque Country and the Diaspora. The movie is advancing thanks to “auzolan” (collective work effort) and the same spirit that has opened collaborators up to the possibility to participate as extras. Filming is scheduled for 2013, but the pre-selection process has already begun. They are now seeing 30 men and women between the ages of 18 and 78. Candidates may send their pictures and application to the Ainara Facebook page.

Donostia-San Sebastian.  The movie Ainara, the mysterious story of a young Basque girl who was raised in the US but who returns to her homeland, continues to advance and in recent weeks a large number of Basque artists and professionals have joined filmmaker Jean Darrigol’s project.  The most recent are the group Zea Mays, who will participate in the soundtrack and actors such as Garbiñe Insausti, expert theater actress has succeeded internationally with the play André & Dorine (See article on EuskalKultura.com).

The movie’s producers have now announced the beginning of pre-casting process for extras.  Shooting is scheduled for 2013, but pre-selection is carried out “in advance, to allow the greatest number of internet users possible to find out about the project,” according to those responsible for Ainara

They are now seeking around 30 men and women between the ages of 18 and 78 years to participate in or several scenes shot “in a traditional rural music bar in the Basque Country.”  Anyone interested can register using the “pre-casting” application on Ainara’s Facebook page as well as by sending 1-4 personal photos, one of which preferably to be a full-length picture.
