Logo contest and annual program of activities at the Chascomus Basque club for its 25th anniversary

The Zingirako Euskaldunak Basque club in Chascomus will celebrate a quarter century this year and to celebrate it, they are inviting the community to participate in a varied program of activities that will begin now and will run through December.  To publicize the events, the locals are looking for an image that will identity the festivities and so that is why they have launched a contest to design the 25th Anniversary logo for the Euskal Etxea.  The deadline to submit your ideas is July 10. 

Chascomus, Argentina.   The Basque community in Chascomus will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its foundation this year, 2016, and to celebrate it, with members and friends, it has published a varied program of events in the last few days.

Each activity will be properly advertised and that is why the club is looking for an image that will represent this special birthday.  That is why they have launched Logo Contest 25 Urte Zingirako Euskaldunak, from which they will choose the anniversary’s design.  The call if open and deadline to submit works is July 10.  The terms and conditions of participation follow:

Logo Contest

  • The aim of the competition is to select the image that will be used by the Chascomús Zingirako Euskaldunak Basque club to identify its 25th anniversary celebrations. It will be printed on t-shirts, tickets and all advertising
  • The contest is intended for individuals who are older than 16 years of age of any nationality, linked to the Basque club or not. Vocational training of any sort is not necessary
  • The task at hand is creating a logo that has been previously unreleased, that refers to the 25 years of the Foundation of Basque Argentine Zingirako Euskaldunak  club in Chascomús
  • The image must be 21 x 29.5 (A4), you can use four colors: white, red, black and green (one, four or any combination of these)
  • The works must be submitted in a manila envelope. The outside of the envelope should include the name of the contest, and the pseudonym chosen by the author. Inside the envelope, will include a high-quality printing of the logo, a CD-ROM with the design in digital format and a smaller, sealed envelope, showing name, DNI, address, email and telephone number of the author
  • Works will be submitted at the Secretariat of the Basque Center (Franklin 454) where it will be kept until the deadline of the contest. The deadline is Sunday, July 10, 2016
  • As for the awards, the winner will receive ($1000) in pesos; there will also be a special mention, which will be awarded two free tickets for the celebration in September
  • The jury will be comprised of the Board of Directors of the Basque Club, which will designate the winner by a majority
  • The decision of the jury is final and the competition may be declared void in the event that the jury considers it to be so. The organization can use the image as they see fit without time limits or other restrictions, for what it deems appropriate. Any case not provided for in these regulations shall be resolved by the jury

Provisional Celebration Program

To celebrate its first quarter century, the Zingirako Euskaldunak Basque club has prepared a calendar with multiple activities that will begin on April 30, and will conclude in December.  While there may be some modifications, which will be announced in advance, the plan is presented below:

-April 30: talk and dinner commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika
-May 14: seafood sale
-June 11:  sukaldi sale
-July 10: San Fermin celebration
-July Mus Tournament
-August: Exhibit “In the Footsteps of Euskera. The Basque Language and its presence in Argentina.”
-September 9 & 10: Dance and festivities to celebrate the 25 years of the Basque club
-October: photo exhibit
-November 27: Dance Festival at the Brazzola Theater
-December: International Day of Euskera festivities, visit from the Olentzero and a toast for the end of the year

Looking towards 2017, members of the Zingirako Euskalduank also are focused on organizing Udaleku – Basque summer camp in January.

Second Foundation

In 2016, the 25th anniversary of the second foundation of the club in Chascomus will be celebrated.  Remember that the first foundation was on April 20, 1952, but later the Basque club activity diminished and eventually disappeared. In 1991, they gathered again and reestablished the Zingirako Euskaldunak Basque club, as it is known today.
