Learn Basque dance online: “Dantza Munduan” has begun, apply for your scholarship before December 13

Vitoria-Gasteiz. As Euskalkultura.eus announced last week: the Basque Government and the Aiko Taldea officially presented the innovative online training option that is offered to dancers and dance fans from Basque clubs around the world through the Aikoeskola.eus platform, in a first edition of the Dantza Munduan Program. With this, the executive responds to one of the requests made at the 2019 World Congress of Basque communities abroad.

Dantzaris and other interested persons can join in classes from wherever they are in the world, facilitated by the program, the language and times are flexible and can be accessed with whatever device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone). Classes are available live or also their recorded versions, provided in Basque, Spanish and English.

Participating in yesterday’s presentation at the Basque Government’s Lehendakaritza were the Secretary General of Foreign Action, Marian Elorza, Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu, along with Sabin Bikandi, representing Aiko Taldea.  Everyone stressed the great progress that this new offer supposed, in particular during this time of pandemic, providing the opportunity to learn Basque dance with advanced resources and without leaving home.

Classes can be followed live once a week, although recordings will also be available so that they can be revisited, or reviewed at any time.  The platform includes three languages Basque on Thursdays, Spanish and English on Sundays.

Along with in person classes, the platform also includes dance a la carte, with all dances explained step by step, something available for the first time on the internet, with all of the jauziak and mutildantzak gathered in one place and at the student’s disposition with each step recorded clearly and didactically, making practice, improvisation and choreography easier.

In regards to the Diaspora, enrollment for free instruction must be done through Basque clubs.  The deadline to do so is December 13th.
