Today Korrika 18 --a fundraising cross for the Basque language-- was presented in Bilbao. According to the coordinator of the AEK Euskaltegi, organizer of this popular event in support of Euskera, the route will begin in Andoain (Gipuzkoa) on March 14, 2013 and will end in Baiona (Lapurdi) on March 24. During this edition several Basque students will be honored and as in previous editions, AEK would like to invite Basques in the Diaspora join Korrika. If you would like to organize a race in your Basque club or community, contact AEK.

Bilbao, Bizkaia.  Korrika has already begun to heat up preparing for this 18 edition of the popular race in support of teaching Basque to adults.  The coordinator of the AEK Euskaltegis has unveiled this year’s route in Bilbao this morning that will run from Andoain to Baiona.

The race usually has a large response from Basques in the Diaspora as well and each year more Basque club organize parallel events in their communities.  In places like Barcelona, Madrid, London and Necochea, Korrika has become a regular event, and last edition Berlin and Sydney also joined in thanks to local Basque communities there.

AEK has contacted EuskalKultura.com to once again invite Basques in the Diaspora to participate in Korrika, despite being outside of the Basque Country.  Anyone wishing to organize an event in his/her Basque club can contact AEK, writing to this email: here to receive t-shirts, posters and publicity materials.

Meanwhile, event organizers are unveiling, little by little, various promotional and cultural activities that will take place during the months leading up to Korrika.  Today the Korrika website was launched (www.korrika.org) where visitors will find all the information relating to the race.
