Iñaki Salvador will pay tribute to Mikel Laboa this weekend at the Kanazawa Jazz Street Festival in Japan

Iñaki Salvador and his band will attend the Kanazawa Jazz Street Festival organized by the Japanese city by the same name to perform two concerts on September 14th and 16th performing songs from his album Lilurarik ez – Mikel Laboarekin solasean that Salvador published in 2010 paying tribute to the mythical Basque musician.  Salvador is accompanied by musicians Ainara Ortega, María Berasarte, Ángel Unzu, Javier Mayor and Aitor Bravo, according to a note published by the Etxepare Basque Institute who is supporting the initiative.

Donostia-San Sebastian.  The concert entitled “Laboa Jazz,” is based on the interpretation of Mikel Laboa’s songs that Salvador, who had worked with him, previously recorded and published on the aforementioned album.  The event will take place on the stage next to the Oyama Temple in Kanazawa at 5:30pm.

Iñaki Salvador, (Donostia-San Sebastian, 1962), is a classically trained musician who spend a large part of his career in the area of jazz.  He has done work and composed for some of the musical and theater companies as well as led his own jazz ensembles.  Currently he is also a piano-jazz teacher at Musikene, the Basque Country’s Superior Music Center.

The Kanazawa Jazz Street, created in 2009, will celebrate its 11th edition this year and will take place on September 14-16, 2019.  It gathers jazz musicians from all over the world to perform more than 200 events with the gathering attracting some 100,000 visitors all year long.  The streets and halls in this Japanese city will be filled with jazz music over the three days, with concerts, as well as workshops and other activities
