Buenos Aires, Argentina. The board of directors of FEVA, the Argentine federation of Basque clubs, and the Etxepare Basque Institute through Kinku Zinkunegi, director of the Euskara Munduan Program, met in order to define the lines of action in the area of Euskera looking towards the second semester of the year.  During this meeting, they decided the dates for the second intensive training for Basque teachers in 2021, that will take place Saturday July 17th-Saturday July 24th with the participation of 28 students/teachers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay.

The course will take place virtually on the Schoology platform and all communication skills will be worked on as it is done in person.  Although the teachers have yet to be determined, Arantxa Anitua told EuskalKultura.eus that they will be a group of teachers who were also trained in Euskara Munduan and have now achieved the C1 Accreditation.

Due to COVID-19 the learning group that began in San Nicolas, Argentina in the summer of 2020 only got for now one in person barnetegi, but anyway the evaluation by FEVA, the Etxepare Basque Institute and teacher Jon Urdangarin, is still very positive.  “They are keeping an excellent pace, and are performing very well and have shown their commitment from the beginning.  That is always remarkable, but especially in this context that we have to live in,” Anitua stressed.

It is true that the pandemic and the quarantine that it brought along with was a hard blow for Basque clubs and institutions around the world, including those in Argentina. Nevertheless, FEVA has managed in recent times, and thanks to new technologies, to multiply its activities, making easier the participation of smaller and more distant Basque clubs across the countryeven overcoming borders.

Along these lines, Anitua let us know that news is expected shortly on the new proposals in the field of training, which will be announced after next Saturday’s meeting.
