This Saturday and Sunday, anyone who would like to spend a weekend completely in Basque in the heart of Mallorca can do so thanks to the Euskal Etxea Artea, which has organized a barnetegi. The intensive course will focus on teaching the Basque language, but its goal is to give participants the possibility to live in Basque for 48 hours. The barnetegi will include activities in Basque, including Basque dance, txalaparta and gastronomy classes.

Palma, Mallorca.  The Euskal Etxea Artea in Mallorca is making a huge effort to support its Basque classes and to respond to the interest shown by its students participating in the course.  This year, in hopes of giving them the opportunity to live in Euskera for a weekend, the club organized a barnetei that will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

The goal is to provide an immersion experience in Basque, taking the language out of the classroom and to social activities like Basque dance, classes in txalaparta, cooking and dinners at the club; a unique opportunity in the heart of Mallorca.

The Barnetegi program of activities:

-8.30 p.m. Dinner, tasting of what was prepared in the workshop and singing

Igandea / Sunday

This event is one of many that the Basque community in Mallorca has carried out in support of Euskera, just as its celebration of Korrika 18 on April 13.  The Basque club has published its video of the day: here.
