The “Anima Zaitez!” program was created in 2016 in Villa Maria, Argentine province of Cordoba, to invite youth in the Basque Country who would like to spend two weeks in Argentina teaching workshops on various manifestations of Basque culture.  Each participate pays his/her way and for insurance, while the Basque club provides room and board.  This year's deadline to apply is May 1st

Villa Maria, Argentina.   The “Anima Zaitez” program is an exchange program at the Villa Maria Basque Club that began last year.  Using the “Hator Hona” program at the Euzko Etxea in Necochea as a model, this program proposes a youth exchange between the Basque Country and Argentina using Basque activities as a reference.  The Euzko Etxea in Villa Maria has once again opened up the application period directed at Basque Country youth between the ages of 18-30 who can teach dance, music, Euskera, gastronomy, or sports for two weeks in July 2017 (exact dates TBD) with all activities taking place at the clubhouse.

During their stay, the youth from the Basque Country will teach basic workshops on subjects that they are knowledgeable about, while exchanging experiences on various material related to Basque culture, like Euskera, music, dance musical instruments, gastronomy, or sports from the perspective of a youth who lives, learns and cultivates all of this in the Basque Country.  It’s all about sharing experience and knowledge.

Rules to participate follow:

-You must be at least 18 years of age, and no older than 30 at the time of the exchange, speak Basque and be fluent in Spanish, and have knowledge in one of these areas: Basque dance, Euskera, Basque sports, gastronomy and Basque music.  It is not necessary to have a degree, but you must be willing to share your knowledge with the club’s community.  You must be able to travel and stay for at least 2 weeks in Argentina during the month of July (dates TBD), return to Euskal Herria and spread the word about the activity motivating future aides.

-The activities will take place at the Euzko Etxea clubhouse in Villa Maria, Cordoba.  The stay will be for 15 days, during which a program will be put together based on the workshops offered by the chosen instructors.  Lodging will be with families and meals will also be with the family and at the club.  The number of spots will depend on the number of families willing to house aides.

Participants are responsible for their roundtrip travel to Argentina and travel insurance.  The program will take care of costs related to the project like lodging, food and travel from the airport in Cordoba to Villa Maria, teaching materials, among others, during the 15-day stay.

More information will be available by emailing: cvascovm@gmail.com and/or animazaitez.cvascovm@gmail.com. Applications should also be sent to these same emails by May 1st.  Results will be published on the club’s FanPage Euzko Etxea Villa María– between May 8-12, 2017.

(Please share with anyone who may be interested in participating.  Mila esker!)
