Sabrina Otegui / Buenos Aires-Santiago, Chile. Maritxu Bastarrica has always been a part of the Basque club in Santiago, Chile.  This is no surprise since her mom and dad, María Angélica Carrasco and Ignacio Bastarrica, are pillars of the institution. That is where she took her first steps as a dancer, in the “Itxaropen Gaztea” dance group where she still dances.  She was also introduced to pilota at the Basque club and became a pilotari. Today, and thanks to this sport, she represents the club and her country in multiple international championships.

After visiting Euskal Herria on various occasions, the first of which in 2008 for Gaztemundu, Maritxu recognizes “falling in love with the Basque Country,” and she would return “a million times more.”

In the meantime, she continues to be “super active,” at the Basque club training to be ready to resume activities after the quarantine.  In this regard, she also gave us some advice.  Mila esker, Maritxu!
