Basque Literature around the world: Miren Agurne Meabe in Miami, and Iban Zaldua going soon to Guadalajara

Thanks to the Etxepare Basque Institute, Basque literature was present for another year at the main international fairs this fall.  Right now, writer Miren Agure Meabe is at the Miami Book Fair, and on Saturday, Iban Zaldua will travel to the International Literature Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico.  The goal of both trips, is to bring Basque culture to the world and create new networks for its dissemination. 

Donostia-San Sebastian.   According to the Etxepare Institute, Iban Zaldua will travel to Mexico this Saturday to participate in the FIL in Guadalajara, one of the largest literature fairs in Latin America, with the support of Etxepare and the Basque Writers Guild.  On Sunday, Zaldua will present his work Biodiscografias, and the next day, he will participate in the Pleasure of Reading Symposium Gala along with Manuel Rivas, Patricio Pron and Alejandro Zambra with Benito Taibo as moderator.  Zaldua will also participate in one of the best known sections of the fair “Echos from the FIL.”

On December 1st he will also travel to Mexico City to meet with students at UNAM University.  His stay in Mexico will conclude with a talk “The Melody of the Words of Music.”

On the other hand, writer Miren Agur Meabe participated recently in the Miami Book Fair that was held November 13-20th.  With the support of the Etxepare Institute, Meabe was part of the seminar “A World of Readers: Readers for the World,” along with writers Alfonso Cruz (Portugal) and Alejandro Palomas (Spain), with Fanuel Hanan Diaz (Venezuela) as moderator.

On November 20th, the writer led the presentation “Ramtnicize the Past and the Present” along with Raul Tola and Eusebio Gomez.  That same afternoon, Meabe participated in a literary reading that the fair organizes annually as part of its closure: “Reading Aloud.”
