Barcelona, Catalonia. These meetings are in response to the request made to the Basque Government by the 5^th World Congress of Basque Collectivities in 2011, to convene regional meetings during the four-year period between world congresses.  Other regional meetings of this type have already been held in the US in Elko and South America in Villa Maria, Argentina.  These meeting in Barcelona will close the circle with clubs from Europe and Asia/Oceania meeting.

Sunday’s meeting, called by the Federation of Euskal Etxeak in Spain takes place each year and gathers representatives from the different clubs there.  Between the two meetings, representatives from 17 of the 23 clubs have confirmed their attendance.  Among those in Spain, Barcelona, Madrid, Palma, Valencia, Quart de Poblet, Valladolid, Malaga and Zaragoza are expected to attend.

The regional Asian and European meeting will take place on Saturday although there is a reception tonight for those participating, hosted by the Barcelona Town Hall.  On Sunday, Barcelona’s Basque club will also be hosting the Spanish Mus Tournament where Spain’s representative to the world championships will be selected.  This year’s World Tournament will take place in Cancun, Mexico.
