Baietz accompanied the presentation of “Amerikanuak” by Kepa Etchandy with music of Iparralde

Already immersed in their 2014 program of activities, the Gerora Association in Cordoba, Argentina invites everyone to their Txiki Eguna tomorrow in Alta Cordoba. This event is in addition to others that have taken place over the last few months to present Amerikanuak by Kepa Etchandy, photographer from Baiona, along with the celebration of the Anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika. Baietz attended both events, with music, and the Txotx Dancers! Gerora also let us know about their General Assembly and its elections.

Cordoba, Argentina.  As part of his tour of Argentina at an event organized by the Gerora Association, photographer Kepa Etchandy presented his book Amerikanuak at the Pepino Cultural Center in Cordoba.  In the words of Noé Fernandez, member of Baietz, and now Association Vice-President, “The presentation was done with a talk: an exchange with the audience, very interested in the topic of the “Amerikanuak,” and the explanation provided by the guest.”

In addition to the photos and stories by the Basque artist, folks attending were also able to enjoy the dances done by Txotx! and music performed by the group Baietz, who prepared a special Iparralde repertoire for the occasion.  The evening ended with a pintxo-pote and some more music.

The 77th Anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika was also commemorated thanks to Txotx! and Baietz.  The event took place on April 26th in the City Building and included performances by member Maria Luisa Peveraro.  Also attending the event were students from the Txistu Workshop at Gerora who played Gernikako Arbola.

Regarding future acitivities, Gerora announced that on Saturday May 24th, they will host Txiki Eguna.  This event is aimed at children and youth and hopes to introduce them to the Basque culture thorugh dance-games, drawing and songs and spread the “TxikiTxotx.” The event will take place at the Rivadavia Plaza in the neighborhood of Alta Cordoba and will also include the participation of members of Txotx! and Baietz, organized by the Arantza de Vadillo.

Gerora also let us know that its Txistu workshop will take place every Friday at 17:00 at Uspallata 115 and that beginning Basque classes will begin on Fridays from 17-20:00 at the Cordoba Library (27th of April Street, 375).  For more information or to enroll visit their Facebook page (Gerora Cordoba) or via email: geroracordoba@gmail.com.
