Vatican City. A delegation representing forty communities that reside and are active in Argentina visited Pope Francis yesterday at the Vatican.  During the meeting, led by Secretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the Argentine Government, Claudio Avruj, the delegation presented the Pontiff a declaration “Argentina, Mosaic of Identities,” whose aim, among other things, is to support the rights of migrants, collectivities and refugees, as well as advance intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

The Basque community was represented at the meeting by Arantxa Anitua, president of the Laurak Bat Basque Club in Buenos Aires, Vice-President of FEVA and representative of the Basque Community in the Network of Women of Collectivities, of the Undersecretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism in the City of Buenos Aires.

After the visit, “historic and unique in nature, since there is no record of a similar experience,” according to the Argentine newspaper La Nación, the delegation photographed in front of the Vatican.
