Two technicians from the Historic Ecclesiastic Archive of Bizkaia (HEAB) will travel to Boise, Idaho next week as guests of the Cenarrusa Foundation to give several talks and offer a genealogy workshop. The goal is that participants will be able to search the internet for information on their ancestors on the HEAB’s online database. As explained by its director Anabella Barroso, to EuskalKultura.com, the hope is “to teach them how to use the database, because it is very important to us that they successfully use the archive.” In order for that to happen, Barroso affirmed that the HEAB will be available to present talks and practical workshops at other Basque centers who may be interested in a visit from them.

Liburuklik is already online, a powerful search tool that allows online access to the Digital Basque Library, or thousands of documents and books published in the Basque Country, or related to the Basque language and culture. The archive is limited to documents prior to 1940, to avoid any copyright laws with more recent publications, and even though it was created with 3,000 titles, it is expected to include 300,000 new pages before the end of the year.
