Tickets to participate in the anniversary activities at the Zingirako Euskaldunak Basque Club

In order to celebrate the club’s 25th anniversary, the Zingirako Euskaldunak Basque Club in Chascomus has planned a full weekend.  The invitation is for September 11th and 12th, and is not only for the local Basque community, but also to anyone wishing to join in the festivities. The program will begin on Saturday afternoon with mass and dancing by the hosts and invited groups, and will conclude on Sunday with a big lunch.

The monument in honor of “El Vasco” Olarticoechea was dedicated on August 27 in Saladillo

The monument dedicated by his hometown was created by designer, German Wright.  A large crowd attended the inaugural event of the work. Among those attending were local authorities, friends and family members of the soccer player, as well as members of the Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillo and a large number of neighbors who wanted to accompany their idol, Julio Jorge “El Vasco” Olarticoechea at such a special occasion.

The City of La Plata distinguishes the Basque Club’s Soccer Team for the Blind as “a sporting example”

The La Plata Basque Club’s Soccer Team for the Blind at City Hall

With a unanimous vote, and by means of the decree of the projected presented by the Advisory board of the FPV-PJ, Fabian Lugli, the City Council (Consejo Deliberante) of La Plata declared the members of the Soccer Team for the Blind as “Distinguished Sports Personalities.”  Receiving this honor are the members of the Basque Club’s Soccer Team for the Blind. Each player attending was presented a medal.

Concordia Basque Club representatives at the 2015 Immigrant Festival

The Provincial Immigrant Festival in Concordia begins next Friday in this city of the province of Entre Rios, running this year September 9-11.  The Colectividad Vasca Basque Club in Concordia will represent Euskal Herria in various proposals at the festival, including having food and cultural stands, dance performances, during the queen selection and the soccer tournament, where the “Euskaldunak” team already boasts a win.

The 29th edition of the National Festival of Foreign Communities held its beginning events in the beginning of September and will conclude next weekend with a large Gastronomic Fair. As part of the Federation of Foreign Communities, the Euskal Echea Association in Comodoro Rivadavia will be part of the fair, not only with typical dishes but also with dancing.  The Euskal Echea (sic) in Comodoro is, at 93 years old, the oldest Basque entity in Patagonia.

Hiru Erreka’s stand at the Festival of Collectivities that took place on August 28 in Tres Arroyos

The organizers as well as the participants all agree that the 2016 edition was one of the best ever of the Festival of Collectivities in Tres Arroyos, not just because of the size of the audience, but also because of the increase in the number of countries represented.  The Hiru Erreka Basque Club was features at the festival and exhibited a complete panorama of the traditional culture of Euskal Herria.

Uzturre Mundua will offer two dance workshops in Argentina; one in Bahia Blanca and the other in Buenos Aires

The youth of Uzturre Munduan held a workshop at Laurak Bat on September 12-13, 2015

In order to provide continuity to the work done last year, members of the group, Uzturre Munduan, will return to Argentina from the Basque Country to offer two workshops on September 10 and 11 at the Union Vasca Basque Club in Bahia Blanca; an on September 17-18 at the Laurak Bat Basque Club in Buenos Aires.

As according to its statues, the Chacabuco Basque club held its General Assembly to elect its new board who will serve for the 2016-2018 term.  At the meeting, Pablo Pavesa, former president and new treasurer, passed the baton to the new president, Bernardo Indaburu.  In the words of Pavesa, “The evaluation of the last four years couldn’t’ be better, and so this allows us to get even stronger.”

"Katalina de Erauso", the historical Basque adventurer, takes the stage at Victoria Eugenia Theater in Donostia

During the 17th century, an adolescent runs away from the Dominican convent in Donostia because it feels like a prison. Going to America, the adolescent fights for the king of Spain and oppresses the local people; spends decades shaking a sword around in the New World. No, it is not a man: it is a woman. But she is no longer Katalina Erauso: dressed as a man, she is Frantzisko Loiola, an adventurer from Donostia. A polemical, multifaceted personality, better known abroad than at home; but now there is a Pastoral about her.  After Baiona, it is now going to be performed in Donostia and in Donibane Garazi.
