The grounds of St. Patrick’s Seminary & University boast row upon row of broccoli, Swiss chard, kale, and strawberries this spring, products of a new parish Catholic workers cooperative created in a venture among the seminary, Guadalupe Associates, and the parish of St. Francis of Assisi, East Palo Alto. “I was actually surprised we yielded so much the first year,” said Sulpician Father Gladstone Stevens, rector of the seminary who, along with San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, approved the use of seminary grounds to grow the crops as part of NanoFarms USA’s pilot project. The website is nanofarms.com.

Es un investigador diferente. No le importa publicar, sino descubrir. No tiene miedo al fracaso, porque sin él jamás se alcanza el éxito. Óscar Férnandez-Capetillo (Bilbao, 1974) es el único español que entró el pasado año en la lista '40 under 40' de la revista Cell, que seleccionaba a los 40 mejores investigadores del mundo que aún no habían llegado a la cuarentena. Quién se lo iba a decir cuando casi deja la investigación biomédica allá por 2001. Si no llega a ser por el empuje de su mujer, el mundo científico se hubiese perdido a una de las mentes más brillantes contra el cáncer.

In a foreword to his book “Zaharregia,” the Basque poet Kirmen Uribe describes a scene with fellow poet Phillis Levin who told him she had tried to read a few things in Basque but had been struck by all of the “X’s” on the page. “The language looks like a treasure map,” she said. “If you just forget all the rest of the letters and focus in on the x, it looks as if you could find out where the treasure is.”

Sirva reseñar como antecedente, local, del tema que nos ocupa, que desde el año 2010, la Escuela Profesional del Goierri, Goierri Eskola, viene acogiendo a estudiantes chilenos que participan en el programa 'Técnicos para Chile', un propuesta de formación técnica, de seis meses de duración que impulsa el departamento de Educación del Gobierno chileno con el objetivo de becar a estudiantes de perfil técnico, ingenieros o técnicos superiores, con la pretensión de que lleven a cabo, en el extranjero, un curso de perfeccionamiento con el fin último de poder contar con una oferta de técnicos de nivel superior y de calidad que respondan a los requerimientos de desarrollo económico que reclama aquel país.

Du 12 au 16 mai le Comité des Fêtes et la ville, service culture, organisent une semaine Basque. Une semaine thématique qui débutera mardi prochain avec toute une palette d'animations, musique, danse, jeux pour enfants, gastronomie, exposition… en la salle polyvalente, avec au programme : Mardi, atelier culinaire avec confection d'un gâteau basque à l'Espace Cézanne. Un repas basque sera servi dans les écoles balmanaises. Mercredi, : Jeux basques organisés dans tous les centres de loisirs. Marie-Louise Lekumberry looked around the main hall at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center on Sunday, at the 150-plus chairs filled with friends, relatives and faithful customers. “This is like it’s Saturday night at the JT,” she said, “but there are no picons here.” Flanked by brothers Robert and J.B, mother Shirley Lekumberry Fraser and her nieces and nephew, Marie-Louise was at the podium to share tales of the JT Basque Bar and Dining Room, the first in the historical society’s storyteller series.
