Planning has apparently begun for Buffalo's Big Horn Basque Club to host the North American Basque Organizations (NABO) annual convention in the summer of 2017. John Camino came before the Buffalo City Council at their last meeting to announce the fact and to begin getting the ball rolling to get city assets lined up for the convention.

No tengo el gusto de conocer a Imanol Galdós, solo sé que dirigirá los días 18 y 19 de julio, un Curso de Verano en Donostia sobre la Diáspora Vasca, palabra judía que no me gusta aplicada a Euzkadi. Se titula “El Papel de la Diáspora Vasca” y entre sus ponentes no hay nadie que represente el exilio vasco venezolano, el más importante de aquella tragedia, no hay más que ver su Euzko Etxea y los viajes realizados allí por los Lehendakaris Aguirre y Leizaola, Landaburu, Rezola e Irujo en esos cuarenta años de opresión en Euzkadi.

El bombardeo de Gernika, fue un ataque aéreo sobre esta ciudad vasca, el 26 de Abril de 1937, durante la Guerra Civil Española. Fueron la Legión Cóndor Alemana y la Aviación Legionaria Italiana, que combatían a favor de los sublevados contra el gobierno de la Segunda República Española. Se estima que los muertos, según estudios recientes y exhaustivos, fueron 126.

Michel Bras Toya Japón ha sido galardonado como el mejor restaurante del mundo.

About a dozen of them exist in the entire county, and Flagstaff has one of them. The “Pelota Fronton” ball court in Southside hearkens to a past populated with Basque sheepherders who would meet in Flagstaff to conduct business and have some fun. It is the only ball court left in Arizona. The Basque immigrated to America in the 1800s from a region in Europe that straddles the border between Spain and France.

Henry Etcheverry whistled, and a row of sheep dashed down a fenced dirt path. On the other end, two men branded the freshly sheared animals. It was late morning on St. Patrick’s Day, exactly 13 years after Etcheverry’s father, Jean Pierre, died. The man from Bidarray in the French Basque Country was one of the big sheep outfit owners at the peak of Basque immigration to Minidoka County. In those days, sheep outnumbered people.
