The selection committee of the Beste Hitzak–Other Words programme, in a meeting held on the 10th of May, 2017, selected Beatriz Chivite Ezkieta for the third residency of this literature creation project. Chivite will be in Maribor, Slovenia, between June and August of 2017.

Basque singers and “Gateau Basque” are new to this year’s annual Basque Festival and Picnic Sunday at the Los Banos Fairgrounds. The festival and picnic event is a longstanding tradition honoring the Basque heritage and population in Los Banos and the Central Valley entering its 53rd year, Mike Etchepare said.

Gela hauetan ibiliko zen Axular atzera eta aurrera, etxeko jaun Bertrand Etxauzekin solasean. ‘Gero’ idatzi zezan animatzen zuen Bertrandek Sarako erretorea, eta lortu zuen; eskerronez, Etxauziako jaunari eskaini zion liburua Axularrek 1643an. Hiru mende geroago, Charles Chaplin zen udan gaztelu honetan ostatu hartzen zuena. Gaur egun, Miamiko bikote bat da Etxauziaren jabe, baina Baigorrik bota duen erronkari Euskal Herri osoak erantzuten badio hemendik aurrera euskaldun guztion etxea izango da gaztelu miresgarri hau.
