What makes us Basque? What does it mean to be Basque? It’s not an easy question, or is it? We want to hear your answer. Anyone responding will be entered into the drawing for four copies of the work Basques: Their Language throughout History by Juan Carlos Etxegoien “Xamar.” You can send us your ideas by email, Facebook or leave them in our comments section. Participate and share your view! We will publish responses received

Donostia-San Sebastian.  We have four copies of a fabulous book to give away to our readers (it hasn´t an English version yet): Basques: Their Language throughout History (Vascos, su lengua a través de la historia) a reference on Euskal Herria and the Basque culture that through its images, documents and testimonies tells the evolution of the Basque Country its language, written by philologist and Navarran researcher Juan Carlos Etxegoien, better known as Xamar, and published by Pamiela. (last year we gave away copies of the original Basque version, these copies will be in Spanish).

If you would like to receive one of them you need to respond to the following question: What does it mean to you to be Basque?  What makes us Basque? Where you were born, the family that you are born into, a sense of culture, documents, language….Start thinking and send us your answer (200 words maximum). The deadline to enter is June 9 at 23:59PM (Continental European time).

You can enter using any of three media:

  • Email: send your response to info@euskalkultura.com with “being Basque” in the subject line.  Also include your name, address and phone.
  • Comments: you can also leave a comments at the end of this article.  Remember to include your location and country, complete email (in the message body) and phone.
  • Facebook: Write on EuskalKultura’s wall also leaving your information there.

We will keep all responses and publish the most interesting to share with our readers in one or more articles.

As in previous editions, we will only accept one response from each email.
