The group of cooks at the Euskal Etxea and a large group of helpers came together to prepare nearly 500 meals that were delivered to the town of La Emilia, part of San Nicolas county, one of the most affected areas by January’s floods. Another example of solidarity and the ability of teamwork at the local Basque club, which has already begun working on activities for Semana Nacional Vasca 2017 in San Nicolas.

San Nicolas, Argentina.   The San Nicolas Basque Club, who is anxiously, and happily getting ready to host Semana Nacional Vasca 2017, began the year by helping those affected by the floods in la Emilia that occurred in mid-January, with the Arroyo del Medio overflowing its banks.

The group of cooks is known in the community for its solidarity project that it has carried out since 2001, under the name Etxe Nasaia. Along with members and friends of the club they responded to the urgency in a wonderful way; preparing chicken paella for their neighbors from La Papelera, one of the most damaged areas.  Besides cooking, Basque club representatives also delivered the meals to those affected.

Choral activity at Semana Vasca

As announced before, Semana Nacional Vasca 2017 will take place in San Nicolas November 6-12.  Even if it is a ways away, the Euskal Etxea is already committed to its organization and so is sharing some new features with the community.

This year marking the 80th anniversary of the Eresoinka choir, the club will give choral activity a special predominance during the week.  This is why the Euskal Etxea host choir Errekatarrak is inviting Basque clubs choirs to participate in the activities.

On the other hand, the club has also communicated that its email: snvascasn@hotmail.com is also up and running for questions regarding these main annual Basque festivities in the Argentine Diaspora.
